  2. OSH and Nepal Causes of Accidents • unsafe working conditions • Lack of supervision & training • Use of Old machinery & Equipment • Lack of sufficient maintenance • Bad House-keeping practices • Violation of safety rules

OSH and Nepal Problems for sound OSH • Lack of knowledge & awareness among workers • Lack of awareness and commitment in employment & management • Fear of change and of cost increase • Poor consultation system • Majority of untrained people both in management & labour • Lack of research & data-base on occupational diseases and health hazards

GEFONT and OSH • Partnership with employers and government for training programme on OSH • Research for problem identification • Awareness programme for safe & clean workplace and healthy life • Partnership with employers for sound workplace management • Pressurizing for waste and swage management • Joining hands worth international Agencies like ILO for works in Cooperation on OSH

GEFONT and OSH • A joint GEFONT-NTUC committee in cooperation with LO-FTF will launch a number of programs covering awareness, training, surveys and health campaigning on the issue • Government has developed an New organization in a tripartite forum – OSH Association • GEFONT has developed GEFONT Cooperative Clinic with aims to develop a technical groups of OSH workers in near future to develop OSH as a significant campaign in forthcoming days
