  1. November 4 States of Matter with examples

  2. State • The physical form in which it exists. • Solid • Liquid • Gas • Plasma

  3. Solid State • Solid- Molecules are packed very tightly together. The closer they are packed, the harder the substance. • A solid is like you & your B.F.F. Best Friends Forever are always stuck together tightly, they are bonded and difficult to separate.

  4. Liquid State • Liquid • It will take the shape of the container • Atoms in liquids want to stay together, temperature can separate the molecules A liquid is like you and your friends at school. You stay close, flow in and out of classes, fill up rooms and sit fairly close.

  5. Gas State Gasand Vapor mean the same thing. • Gas will fill a container of any size or shape. The atoms and molecules will evenly spread out. Gas is like you and your enemies. You run away from each other, do not want to be together and if you are forced to stay in one place together, you move away constantly. You might see compressed air in a spray bottle or feel the carbon dioxide rush out of a can of soda.

  6. Plasma – state of matter made up of small electrically charged particles • Found where there is high temperature and pressure • Rare to find on Earth • Ex: lightning, sun, stars, aurora borealis
