Project Overview Happy Thanksgiving This week stations will focus on Fall and Thanksgiving topics. Students will be reading non-fiction stories about turkeys and thanksgiving, as well as reviewing skills such as compare and contrast, nouns, time and money.
Reading • I Can: • Read and comprehend non-fiction text, • Compare and Contrast two items. Country Turkey, City Turkey Noise Level 1 • Monday • Read Country Turkey, City Turkey on the Scholastic Website • Tuesday • Finish reading Country Turkey, City Turkey • Begin the comprehension sheet on Country Turkey, City Turkey • Wednesday • Finish the reading comprehension sheet and turn in to the reading file. Writing“Thankful Letter” • I Can: • Use descriptive words. • Write a letter. Noise Level 1 • Monday • Think about a person that you want to write a “thankful letter” to for Thanksgiving. • Write a rough draft of your letter to that person. Tell them why you are thankful for them. • Tuesday • Choose a letter format to write on. • Write the final draft of your letter. Use your best writing skills and handwriting. • Wednesday • Finish your letter. • Add a picture to your letter if time allows. Thursday and Friday…Happy Thanksgiving! Self-Selected Reading/Accelerated Reader • I Can • Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension Noise Level 0 Choose a library book or a book of choice that you have not read. Be sure you picked a book that you can read alone. Silently read . After you finish your book, write the name of the book in your Data Binder. Be sure to fill in the information about your book in your binder. If you can answer all the questions in your Data Binder, get your laptop and log on to AR to take your test.
