BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS • INTRODUCTION: • In August 2006 The Radio Forth Help A Child Appeal will celebrate it’s 20th Birthday which will mark the launch of a one year programme of activity culminating in a massive 21st birthday party • From mid 2006 to August 2007 the charity will undertake a host of activity including a 21st, a Midsummer Magic event for approximately 300 people [date and venue t.b.c.] possibly The Balmoral – The Sheraton or Prestonfield with major artist/s appearing at this one-of star studded event. • Ahead of our 21st birthday we will hold an informal but sizable 20th birthday celebration [6pm -8pm] will take the shape of a buffet and drinks reception in a venue TBC. In attendance will be Radio Forth’s Charity Appeal supporters, beneficiaries of the charity, the trustees and the fundraising team. • During the course of the evening there will be presentations of cheques to organisations and individuals who will benefit from local fundraising. Added to this there will be musical entertainment following the proceedings.

  3. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS • History of the charity • The charity has been in existence for 20 years. Fundraising for children started a few years before this in the form of the annual on-air charity auction held at the end of November. • Fund raising is on-going throughout the year these days with hundreds of listeners nominating the charity as their preferred cause and receiving the benefit of on air support for their various events • The original name, “The Radio Forth Charity Auction Trust” was adopted in 1986, but was made less formal by using the name, “Help A Child Appeal”. This is lovingly abbreviated to HACA within the radio stations. • The Radio Forth Help a Child Appeal is the official charity for Forth 1 and Forth 2, we like to think of it as the listener’s charity. • Over the last 3 years, the success of the auction has grown by moving it to the last week-end of November with both stations broadcasting together. Last year we raised over £85,000 in the three days – a record amount.

  4. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS • The charity raises money for children with special needs in Edinburgh, Lothian's and Fife. • Grants are considered from groups and individuals and are not means tested. The application form is sent out on request. Grants are awarded by the Trustees on an annual basis in July. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS • The Radio Forth Help A Child Appeal would like to offer the opportunity of sponsoring this unique 12 month event and also our 2007 21st Birthday celebrations to be held in May or June. • The sponsor would be credited as sponsors of the events and would receive the following: • Logos on all literature pertaining to the events. • Major branding at both events. • A number of invitations to be used exclusively by the sponsor at the 20th celebrations. • 2 tables of [10] at the 21st Birthday celebrations. • On-air credits leading up to each event. This would be at a frequency of 5 credits per day over a month period leading up to the event. • The sponsors representatives would be invited to join the committee in organising the 2007 event. • Web activity with a click-thru from both the Forth One and 2 sites. • And lots more !!!!
