ITU-T SG 5 • Name of organisation and associated bodies • ITU-T Study Group 5, Environment and Climate Change • Working Party 1: Damage prevention and safety • Working Party 2: Electromagnetic fields: emission, immunity and human exposure • Working Party 3: ICT and climate change • Description of what this organisation is addressing • WP 3 is • responsible for studies on methodologies for evaluating the ICT effects on climate change, publishing guidelines for using ICTs in an Eco-Friendly Way, and energy efficiency of the power feeding system for data centers. • Also responsible for studying design methodologies to reduce environmental effects such as recycling related to ICT facilities, equipments, etc. • Who are the consumers • ICT service operators, manufacturers, solution vendors, etc.

ITU-T SG 5 • Taxonomy, terms, definitions and metrics used and introduced. • Energy efficiency metrics and measurement methods, approved as new work items at its April meeting. • Standards (certification) being proposed, developed or suggested. ITU-T SG 5 • How does this relate to the scope of EEDC • SG 5 Working Party 3 consists of 5 Questions: Q17, Q18, Q19, Q20 and Q21. • Q19 deals with specifications for Direct Current feeding systems toward energy efficient data centers • Its ongoing works are • L.specDC, Characterizations and specifications of power feeding system, especially for xxxV DC system • Two alternative voltages are being considered: DC 300V and DC 380V. • L.safePowerfeed, Safety for humans and equipment of the power feeding system • L.architecture, System configuration, architecture, and cable distribution including feeding, lightning protection, EMC, earthing, and bonding of the power feeding system • L.performance, Methodologies for evaluating the performance of energy feeding and its environmental impact • L.DC, best practices for energy efficient data centers, is on the table of Q17 for coordination among Questions and may be assigned to the work item of Q19.
