INTERNATIONAL REAL STATE Being an international real estate agent is different from being a real estate agent. Unlike local real estate agents, international real estate agents have to deal with different buyer characteristics. However, there are common characteristics that an international buyer has, regardless of the country of purchase.
More frequently than local buyers, international buyers have a long-term real estate investment. Studies by the National Association of Realtors (NAR), 48.5% of international buyers who buy in the United States buy in cash. In other countries the trend is similar, although the data is not known exactly.
Although obviously all of them are interested in buying at a good price (who doesn’t?), International buyers do not necessarily expect to buy at prices unreasonably low. Buying the average market price is good enough for many. International buyers often seek quality properties, which won’t give them maintenance problems. They are not often interested in properties that need repairs, but buildings that are ready to be inhabited. They usually look for good locations, and traditional established neighborhoods.
More than local buyers, international buyers want to have abundant and reliable information before signing on the line of "buyer". Not being as familiar with the latest market news, it is normal that they want to know more about the property they are interested in buying.
Finally, international buyers show much interest in the image and professionalism of the real estate agent attending them. Given that he or she will place their absolute trust, they care if the real estate consultant can present testimony, designations, affiliations and past successes.
