  2. Physical Appearance • Long, flat, fluffy tails • Soft, thick, dark brown, and gray fur with white underneath • Very large eyes with black rings around them • Parachute of skin between the legs of each side • About nine inches long • Weigh about 110 to 230 grams

  3. Diet Fungi Seeds Berries Insects Slugs and snails Tree and shrub buds Fruits Flowers Bird eggs Nuts

  4. Habitat Live in woods all over Indiana Have different kinds of nests Make nests out of holes in old trees Out of a heap of twigs, bark, and leaves Nocturnal animals

  5. Predators Flying squirrel predators are carnivores Owls Marten Fisher Raccoon Coyote House cat Bobcat Weasel Rattlesnakes

  6. Babies Baby flying squirrels are called pups Born skinny, pink, no fur, eyes and ears closed Drink mothers milk Mother sits on her pups and covers her pups Litters as big as three to seven pups Fur grows by the third week Day 32 their eyes open Five weeks old they play and make noises
