  1. Preparing To Teach English Classes Whether you are an active or retired teacher, a student or you have never taught a single English course, the approach to home teaching via private lessons is not always the same. Some already have experience, know-how and methods while others decide to do this activity to earn some money. Whatever happens, you will have to prepare yourself to teach English and even more if you will be teaching English in Chiang Mai. Here are some pointers which may be helpful: Identify your skills; depending on your level in English, you will already be able to target your "public", that is to say primary schoolchildren, high school students, students or adults who wish to convert or resume studies. Take legal advice; if you have to teach primary school students, there is a regulation and legislation for this age group. Be sure to know and master it perfectly to answer your students' questions and to optimize the effectiveness of your didactic plans and your pedagogy. Always prepare your lessons in advance and put them into practice to observe their consistency. Try to prepare interesting and interactive sessions with your students so that they are motivated and always want to learn more in English. Organize your English lesson. Listen to your students: answer their questions, their misunderstandings, ask them questions to make sure that everything is well assimilated. Always speak in English, except to explain a specific grammar point for example. Pay attention to your intonation if you want your students to correctly recreate what they learn. Teaching English in Chiang Mai is quite different hence the approach to English language teaching varies according to the teacher! The cost of an English course varies. There are several factors to consider: your level and qualification, but also the level of the student: the higher the level, the higher the rate. As a general rule, it is estimated that a student may charge £15 per hour. Some subjects are more in demand than others and English is part of it. If you go through a platform or an agency, the conditions are different. Experience and diplomas are the qualifying factors. As an English language teacher, you can set your tariffs according to your experience and diplomas. It is important to make an assessment of the term "experience". Exercising the profession of English teacher in a traditional and academic setting is very different from the courses taught at home or at a distance.
