  1. What You Need TO Know Before Teaching English Abroad Before you decide to pass the TESOL certificate and become a teacher of English abroad, you need to ask yourself a few questions. The earlier you plan your future the better it is for you. You can start planning even during the first year of your degree course. There are several possibilities for this. You should do your homework. Check what opportunities await you and what are the consequences of teaching abroad. You need to of your aim in a TESOL career. What interests you the most and what are your options? You should talk to the people who are already in this field. Your teachers, former teachers, former graduates who are in this profession and the colleagues whom you can find online. Teachers and students from all over the world share messages and ideas on different forums on their job experience and the available opportunities. You might also want to undergo TAP program for teachers as that prepares a candidate better. You also need to find a country or a market where you can sell your skills. Each country has some peculiarities of their own. If you plan to live in a certain country, it is better that you gain knowledge about that country in advance. Teaching English can be a very rewarding experience and it gives you the flexibility and versatility as well. You can live in another country or multiple countries and be a part of those cultures and explore those countries in details. You should also be determined to go abroad to teach. Many teachers who leave the native country behind to teach in another country come home disappointed because they could not adjust to the lifestyle of that country or things there are not like they seemed at first.
