Proposals • Streamline the number of Strategic Priorities • Incorporate key actions in relation to young people in vulnerable groups • Review and refine performance targets
Strategic Objectives Objective 1 • Ensure effective identification, engagement and tracking of young people to support progression Objective 2 • Provide high quality Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance that promotes the full range of education and training options available to young people Objective 3 • Target support to young people in vulnerable groups that are over-represented in the NEET cohort
Objective 1 Ensure effective identification, engagement and tracking of young people to support progression • Improve the quality and flow of information – data sharing agreements; post-16 learning providers informing local authority who drop out of learning; review arrangements for recording the participation of young people • Ensure data is understood and meets partners’ needs – produce regular data performance reports; share performance data in relation to Apprenticeships; enable schools to benchmark their performance • Develop tools to support the early identification of young people at risk – RONI; Electronic Managed Moves • Challenge inappropriate September Guarantee offers – intended destinations; strategy to reduce JWT
Objective 2 Provide high quality Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance that promotes the full range of education and training options available to young people • Ensure young people have access to high quality CEIAG – provide information in a variety of formats; develop social media; increase awareness of Apprenticeships; LMI • Ensure CEIAG staff receive continuing professional development – CEIAG Network; programme of workforce development; CEIAG Champions • Ensure young people are better informed about the world of work – Get the Buzz activities; develop website to enable business and education to make contact and develop activities
Objective 3 Target support to young people in vulnerable groups that are over-represented in the NEET cohort • Young people who have SEND – ensure transition process provides realistic choices for young people; independent travel training; develop appropriate post-16 provision • Young People who are known to the Youth Offending Service – review systems to ensure participation is accurately recorded; develop referral arrangements with One Point; develop social enterprise opportunities • Looked After Children / Care Leavers – local authority to provide opportunities e.g. Apprenticeships in its role as corporate parent; review systems to ensure participation is accurately recorded; implement NEET protocol
