Earthquake 2008 Ziarat Shelter Project • Design for cold weather conditions as Ziarat is the coldest place of Balochistan • This design cant be replicate for the recent flood affected areas due to weather conditions difference • Design: Earthquake 2008 Shelter Design.pdf
Flood 2007-Kharan Shelter Project • The same Design of the 2007 Flood has proposed for the recent flood in District Sibbi, Naseer Abad and Jaffar Abad with slim modification as the weather is the same
Design Specifications • Total Covered area of the Shelter 20X14 280 Sq. Ft or 26 Sq. Meter • Minimum Standard per person 3.5 Sq. Meter (Covered floor area) • Covered area required for a Family = 7X 3.5 24.5 Sq. Meter
Key features • The material selected in for transitional shelter is almost the same used in their permanent mud houses. • The material is locally available • The material selected according to the weather of the area which is very hot • The bamboos can be re used as a structure for the roof, the Tarpaulin sheet can be re used in roof to avoid rain leakages.
Key Features Continued…… • The extra Tarpaulin sheet can be used for their lawn/yard privacy or an extra shelter for their animals/live stock. • The Flooring Mat (chatai) can be re used in their permanent houses for the same purpose • The tools will help while constructing their permanent houses in long term as well.
