Program expectations: • 20-30 minutes of daily home practice for building individual skills. • Bring working instrument, book, and pencil to every rehearsal. The greatest factor in your child’s success as a band member is their competence on their chosen instrument. In 5th grade the students learn 70% of the pitches/fingerings used throughout the high school curriculum. It is the individuals job to master the skills necessary to succeed. Questions? CAUTION Please be wary of an instrument bought from large discount stores. There has been an influx of poorly made instruments from far East that these large stores are marketing as disposable. Most repair shops cannot repair these instruments because they are so poorly made or do not have spare parts available in the US. We have also seen a large number of less-than-adequate instruments for sale via the internet market. If you are unsure of the instruments quality, ask Mr. Luce or Mr. Chongris for help. Questions?
