Did you know…. • OMS classrooms have a Smart-Board in every classroom! • OMS embraces technology, each team has a web site, school has a web site updated daily, OMS is on twitter and sends daily “tweets.” Parents can access grades 24/7 on “Parent Portal.” • OMS is one of the top performing schools in southeastern MA on MCAS (5th-68%, 6th-77&, 8th-83%) • Class size is low, compared to area middle schools, average class size is 20 students. • Teachers are experts in their subjects and must go through a rigorous certification and re-certification process required by Commonwealth of MA. • New “Pathway” courses replaced most “study halls” last year, providing students with enriching opportunities (History of Stoughton, Managing Money, etc.) • Field Trips offered to Boston, New York City (7th grade), Quebec (7th grade) and Washington D.C (8th grade), among other locations! • Extra-Curricular opportunities are plentiful!

Helpful Information About 6th Grade • Lunches are $2.25 and the same procedure is used with Student I.D. #’s • School starts at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 2:12 p.m. • Aside from after school programs, teachers are available after school on Tuesday, Wedneday & Thursday until 2:45 p.m., minimally. • Students are graded in the traditional manner (A,B,C,D,F) with a report card each quarter. • With an administrative team of a building principal, two assistant principals, two guidance counselors, two adjustment counselors and two school psychologists along with Detective Hardy (SRO), student safety and well-being is taken very seriously.
More opportunities to transition to OMS • Each elementary school visiting in June. • “Day in Life of Sixth Grader” video will be posted on web site. • You will receive a letter this summer inviting you to attend a building orientation including a scavenger hunt for the students and question & answer session with the administration. • Orientation Night for Parents and students will be scheduled in May.
