How Were The Photos Taken? • Photos in slides 2, 3 and 9 were taken with a handheld digital camera. • All other photos were taken at the prime focus of a 5” Celestron Nexstar Telescope, on loan from Mr. Bob Eckenrode, equipped with a full-aperture baader solar filter. • A Miranda-Laborec camera was used with either Fuji Super 200 or Kodak Gold 100 film. • Exposures varied from 1/500 through 1/60 seconds.
The Venus Transit Party • Cape Hatteras, NC (notice the lighthouse in photo 2) • Photo 1: Mr. O and Brad Kusman, from PA • Photo 2: Astronomers who traveled from Texas and western North Carolina to see the event. • Set up through email and cell calls, the event hosted these eight astronomers and more than a dozen early beach risers who got to see the event!
