Early life • Influenced by William Shakespeare • Born in Canterbury to a shoemaker. • He went to the king’s school in Canterbury • He attended Corpus Christi College in Cambridge. • He studied on a scholarship and received his Bachelors degree of arts in 1584.

Death • May 18 1583 he was arrested for libels. • His colleague Thomas Kyd was arrested the next day • Police searched home and found a fragment of heretical tract • He was found stabbed to death by a bawdy serving man a rival of his lewd love on Wed May 30 1593 • Still not sure what the purpose of the stabbing
