2008 Priority: Product Development • 75% of members and non-member customers agree or strongly agree APICS products are relevant. • 60% of members and nonmember customers agree or strongly agree APICS products are of high quality. * Baseline will be obtained from member/customer survey being distributed this month
2008 Priority: Product Development • Publish the APICS Operations Management Body of Knowledge Framework • Objective: the OMBOK Framework will be published before the conference. • Status: Delivered at conference • Members can download OMBOK free at www.apics.org/ombok, or order a bound copy for $20.
Publication: OMBOK Framework • Advertising and Public Relations • Advertisements and articles for the Framework have been developed and placed in APICS publications. • E-mail announcements were circulated throughout Q4. • An interview with Bob Jacobs, an editor of the OMBOK, appeared on the Web site of Modern Materials Handling magazine on November 21, 2008. • The printed version of the magazine included a short article in the January issue’s “Breaking News You Should Know” section.
2008 Priority: Product Development • Implement a process to align courseware to the exam content manuals. • Objective: There is one-to-one correlation between the topics covered in the courseware and the exam content manuals. • Status: CPIM and CSCP courseware were both revised to align with the 2009 exam content manuals.
2009 CPIM Update • BSCM – Rewritten • Topics have been aligned with the 2009 Exam Content Manual. • Instructor feedback was reviewed and incorporated as appropriate. • Content was reviewed by SME team including international SMEs. • Content was edited by a copy editor specializing in International English. • Instructional design is similar to the Lean Enterprise Series including many more exercises. • Workbooks and slides have a completely new look and feel. • The new Basics course is in stock and in use by partners.

APICS Member Advocacy 2009 Advocacy Campaign In 2008, APICS launched an advocacy campaign to bring visibility to the value of APICS-educated operations and supply chain management professionals in a difficult economy. The objective of the campaign is to • Demonstrate to employers, the media, and the marketplace that trained operations and supply chain managers are integral to the success, and sometimes the very survival, of a business • Communicate to APICS members that APICS relates to their situation and will help them navigate this recession.
APICS Member Advocacy The advocacy campaign includes these components: • Introduction of new e-newsletters for members and executives that cover the media and government reports and put them in context for the profession. • Increased communications about relevant member benefits, such as extended unemployment benefits and Career Center job postings. • Enhanced APICS magazine editorial coverage of the economy • Continued distribution of economy related APICS content to employers. • Development of a public relations plan and media calendar.
