NRN’s & Skill Transfer • Familiarity of the lay of the land • Knowledge of over and underground issues • Cultural familiarity • Common destiny/ stakeholder in National development • Capacity of direct contact with the donor/recipient community
Do NRN’s have requisite skills capacity for transfer? • Look around! • The answer should be obvious
NRN Skill Directory • A register of Nepali Diaspora’s(global) skills • Access by all looking for services of Nepali professionals/ skilled personnel in their services • Once the professional is identified, start direct negotiation with the professional
Appeal to NRN’s • The directory development started about 18 months ago • Access http://www.ncgcanada.org/ndsd • PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Register in the directory
Action for HMG • Seek donor policy change to give preferential weighting to consultants/ contractors/PM’s employing NRN professionals
Action for NRN • Continue development of the Directory • Make the directory available in NRNA website • Spread the word of the directory when you go back to your respective countries , ask every one to register • If you have a local directory already developed, consider how you can link to the “ Skill Directory’
