Verb Fortune Teller • Measure 8 ½ inches down, draw straight line, & cut (create 8 ½ x 8 ½ square) • Fold in the corners so they meet in the middle. • Turn the paper over. • Again, fold in the corners so they meet in the middle. • Crease the paper by folding it in half. • Fold it in half again. • Unfold so that you see the four small squares. • Write a different verb on each square. • Turn the paper over. • Write a different verb tense on each of the eight triangles. For example, present perfect, future progressive, past perfect progressive, future, past, …. • Lift up each triangle and write the correct form of the verb on the back of the square. Each verb will have 2 forms. • Finally, refold the paper so that the verbs are on the outside . • Place your thumb and index fingers in each of the 4 slots formed by the small squares, and pinch them together. • With a partner, take turns choosing a verb form from the other’s “fortune teller.” • After choosing a verb, the person must give the correct form of the verb indicated on the triangle with the tense.
