Geothermal energy • Tectonically active areas are very useful to people • Geothermal energy – volcanic activity below the earth’s surface produces heat. • This heats up water – hot enough for your bath! • Often hot enough to produce steam • The steam can be used to turn turbines in a power station – producing electricity
