  2. Choosing the right picture to draw • Your child should draw a picture that begins with the letter at the top of the paper. Pumpkin begins with P…

  3. Formulating a sentence • Take the words out of the bag • Help your child formulate a simple sentence using the words from the bag. Using color words helps. • A new word will be added to this bag weekly.

  4. Kid Writing • The child should copy the words on the line. • Use the pom pom as the ‘meatball space’ between the words • When the sentence is complete place the period at the end. • Adult Writing –the adult then writes the sentence correctly under the child’s kid writing. • Help your child to sound out words that are in the sentence that are not in the bag and encourage them to write the letters that they hear.   5. Independent Writing • Children write their own pieces • Risk-free environment • Children know what they do is accepted and valued • Writing becomes closer to adult writing as the teacher guides the process
