  11. Circuit breaker • Air circuit breaker • Moulded case circuit breaker • ABB Sace circuit breaker are equipped with a microprocessor- based release • Simple linking to a control system

  12. Emax - Overcurrent release

  13. Energy distribution

  14. Compact • Two main switching devices on a base plate • Up to 2 x 230 A per module • Up to 24 feeder per cubicle • Compact design for high currents

  15. Professional • Very compact design for energy distribution with low currents • Up to 36 one-pole MCBs with max. 63 A per module or:Up to 6 three-pole motor pro-tection switches with max. 45 A per module

  16. Fuse switch disconnectors • One- or three-pole operated • Sizes: 00: 160 A 1 : 250 A 2 : 400 A 3 : 630 A • Very economic solution for energy distribution up to 630 A • Up to 24 devices of size 00 can be build into a cubicle. • Up to 10 devices of sizes 1, 2 or 3 can be build into a cubicle.

  21. Exchanging of modules

  22. Reactive power compensation

  23. kWh P S QEVU QC kvarh Reasons for reactive power compensation • Saving costs by • transferring a higher amount of active power, or • relieving transmission lines and plants (transformers, generators) • reduced dimensioning of all transmission elements • reducing heat losses and voltage drops • no consumption of primary energy to provide reactive power

  24. Cost savings with RPC • Tariff: 0.25 DM/kWh tan  = Q / P > 0.5 ( cos  > 0.89 ind.) • Overconsumption: 15% (active power consumtion) • Example: Without compensationcos  = 0.7 100 000 kWh · tan ( arccos 0.7 ) = 102 020 kvarh Customer pays for: 102 020 kvarh - ( 0.5 · 100 000 kWh ) = 52 020 kvarh With compensation cos  = 0.9 12 x 52 020 kvarh x 0.15 x 0.25 DM/kvarh = 23 409 DM/year => cost reduction of 23 409 DM/year through reactive power compensation
