  2. 3-year plan for internet address resources • Legal ground • ‘The Act on Internet address resources’ Article 5 (Formulation • and implementation of national plan) • ‘The presidential decree on internet address resources’ • Article 2 (Formulation of national plan) : 3-year plan • KCC (Korea Communications Commission) announced (’08.12.30) • “2nd 3-year national plan for internet address resources” (’09-’11) • Provide the framework for IPv6 transition • Promotion of diverse Internet Addresses (WINC, OID, etc) • National address management system (.kr, IDN, ICANN, internet • governance, statistics, etc. )

Provide the framework for IPv6 transition Joint Committee b/w Private and Public sectors IPv6 transition Committee - consists of KCC, ISPs (private & public sectors) - recommend to ISPs that backbone network be ready for IPv6 with daul-stack, and monitor the progress regularly. Legal framework for IPv6 transition provide the legal framework for ISPs to be ready for IPv6 transition, if necessary ex) ISPs are required to submit a status quo report of IPv6 transition

Provide the framework for IPv6 transition Spread the recognition of IPv4 depletion Increase publicity activities on IPv4 depletion - IPv6 Summit, IPv6 Forum Korea, IPv6 Portal (vsix.kr), newspaper, etc Provide Education for minimization of trial and error - guideline, on/off-line education program on IPv6 implementation - training program for IPv6 lecturers IPv6 model business for portals, schools, small biz Accumulate IPv6 implementation know-how Establish ‘IPv6 transition support center’ to control and manage IPv6 transition activities
