  3. What is Kiwanis? Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.

Our Motto: Serving Children of the World Our History 1915-1st club formed in Detroit, MI 1916-became an international organization 1920-Kansas-Missouri District formed Early 1050’s-Kansas became separate district 1978-Shawnee club formed 1987-women can become Kiwanian More than 8,400 clubs in 96 nations About 606,608 active members Heart for service

What We Do • Salvation Army bell ringing • Sort food at Harvesters • Shawnee Police Department Car Seats • Hillcrest Transitional Housing • Turkeys donated to SW Blvd Medical Center • Operation Give-A-Bear • Sunflower House • Volunteer at Health Fair • Meals on Wheels • Johnson County Christmas Bureau • BUG Program • Reading Across America • Dictionary Project • Shawnee Community Center • Mother’s Day Baby Shower • Funnel Cakes at Old Shawnee Days • College Scholarships • SMNW Key Club Sponsor • Victory Junction Camp

  7. Support SMNW Key Club • Key Club is a service group at the high school level • Each member provides over 50 hours of service per school year • Students learn leadership skills • Provide scholarships for two students

  8. Supporting Local Schools Bringing Up Grades Dictionaries to 3rd graders

  9. Volunteer • Donation of $10,000 toward new building • Donation to support Christmas gift baskets for families Helping Community Organizations Shawnee Community Center

  11. Helping the Children Victory Junction Camp – Kansas City, Kansas • KS/MO Kiwanis Clubs have committed to build one cabin

  12. Fundraising Funnel Cakes at Old Shawnee Days We are Just plain Nuts

  13. Come visit our club… First Watch on Shawnee Mission Parkway every Tuesday at Noon There is a “Free Lunch” after all.
