  3. Occupation Archie Car was… • A scientific and nature writer (He published 10 books including The Windward Road) • A professor of zoology at the University of Florida • A pioneering conservationist (Especially wanted to conserve and protect sea turtles) ("Dep.State.Fl.Us")

Contributions • Founder and Scientific Director of the Caribbean Conservation Corporation (Helps to save sea turtles in Tortuguero, Costa Rica) • Directed the US Navy’s “Operation Green Turtle,” which distributed green turtle eggs from Tortuguero to remote beaches. • Dedicated his life to preserving the creatures and wildlife native to Florida.
