This is the most dangerous animal in the world. It is responsible for MILLIONS of deaths every year. By its side, a nice leopard stands peacefully.
At the moment • 300mm Concrete walls • Double-glazed Windows • Old windows- big U-value • New windows- no air • A lot of cold bridges
Our plan • To Cover envelope with thermal insulation • Marmoroc cladding • Assemble new balcony railings • Elevator installation • Pent house • Solar panels
Isover thermal insulations External walls Sockets Roofs
External wall • 250mm glass wool • Ventilated facade • Marmoroc slate
Roof • 400mm thermal insulation • Less cold bridges • Green roof
Penthouse design Solar power Solar panels on the roof Penthouse Shape ,Roof slope to south
Solar Heating Task Table of Contents • Sun Analysis • Energy Production • Types of Solar Panels • Panel Sizes and Dimensions. • Fixture and Fitting • Costs Analysis
Sun Analysis: Initial solar survey conducted. Vilnius receiving about 140.833hrs yearly. Average temperature-6.1degree Celsius. Average Insolation from sun- 2.1KWH/m2/day.
Solar Panel System Solar Panel System Consists of: Photo Voltaic Panels- Captures sun’s radiation and converts in to DC. An Invertor- Converts DC to AC. Battery- Stores power for future use. Racking System- Used for supporting the panel systems.
Winter Spring/Autumn Summer 12° angle 35° angle 58° angle Energy Production: Energy produced by converting light energy in to electric energy by photo-voltaic effect. Only 15% of sun’s insolation could be used. Efficiency is maximum when panels are placed perpendicular to the sun’s alignment.
Thin Film Types of Solar Panels- Photovoltaic Panels are basically silicon based solar panels. Two types- Crystalline and Thin Film. New innovation- BIPV(Building Integrated Photo Voltaic) solar panels. Crystalline
Panel Sizes and Dimensions Panels proposed for this project are of dimension Length-1952mm, Breadth- 952mm, Depth-50mm Make- Schutten Invertor- Solarmax 6000S- Max Power- 6000W. Racking Systems- Unirac Solar Mount. GWL Solar Battery- 12V-40A
Cost Analysis- Cost of PV systems per m2- 190 € Total proposed area of solar panels- 530m2 Total costs including labor and taxes- 100700 € Average insolation received per day in Vilnius- 2.81KWH/m2/day. Approximate efficiency of PV system- 15% Total Energy Produced per year- 2.81*0.15*530*365= 81539KW Cost of 1KWH in Vilnius- 0.145€ Total Energy Savings per year- 81539*0.145= 11,823 € Static Amortization Time- 100,700/11,823= 8.51 yrsapprox 9 yrs
Loan Calculation- Taking loan for 90% of investment cost, Loan Amount – 90,630 € Interest on Repayment- 4% Considering payback by installments for a period of 20 yrs Installment Amount per year per apartment- 151.05€
Balcony • Replace concrete railings with glass • New wood-aluminium triple-glass windows • Thermal insulation
Façade material Design + materials building skin and solar power generator Foldable facades Folded Creates a sun barrier , Accumulates solar energy Unfolded Keep heat inside, allow light to pass trough
Design of the facade Aesthetics Function Sustainability Cost The initial balcony The proposed balcony
Façade balcony material Energy efficiency Extremely low solar heat gain coefficient Low U-values Daylighting Energy generation 4X power density of existing BIPV technologies Daylighting Optimized transparency Choice of colors Modern look Adaptable design Available in skylight, curtain wall, and colored tiles The Photovoltaic Glass Unit (PVGU) Pythagoras Solar PVGU products are designed for vertical curtain wall and skylight applications and can be optimized for elevation, location, and climate zone.

Socket • 200mm thermal insulation • From external wall 1,5m deep
Basement • 150mm thermal insulation • Pipe insulation
Current data (information source: http://online.dalkia.lt/saskaitos/pastatai.aspx )
Comparison to realized project • 5 floors, 30 flatshouse built in 1974 • Investment - 532 576 Lt • Energy efficiency- 50,47 %. (information source: http://www.atnaujinkbusta.lt/index.php/lt/g/atnaujink-busta/pavyzdziu-galerija)
PAYBACK of energy efficiency increasing works • Government of Lithuania subsidies 15% of house refurbishment investments • If people pays 10% (58957,22 Lt) from their own money, other money should come from loan of bank. Loan sum = 530615
Prognosis • Payback of investments will be even faster, for example in 2018 the sum of payback will be about 72500 (at the moment 49085,94). So the real investment payback period will be 3-4 years shorter.
Penthouse calculations • Building of penthouse requires to build an elevator because of excess of floors • The main part of 121m2 will be sold. Because of such extraordinary and original construction and living space we expect to sell it for 5000Lt/m2 and obtain the 605000Lt.
