Introduction • This contribution proposes key strategic items to drive OMA activities in the future within the context of the Home Environment Service.
1. Convergent services/enablers (including usage in Home environment) 3 screens strategy for all services/enablers! Context: • More and more convergent usages on different devices: mobile, PC, fixed devices • There is less and less separation between mobile and fixed devices • Why should the end customer have a difference in user experience on his mobile, PC and fixed devices at home? Need to offer a convergent experience, on mobile, PC, fixed devices at home, TV • Service experience has to be ubiquitous • IMS is the tool of convergence • Target: One service platform delivering services for all accesses and devices • Regarding the TV: Appetite to mix the access to TV with other services such as communication services, Widgets on TV, interactive games and services on TV, Advertising
1. Convergent services/enablers (including usage in Home environment) Actions and next steps for OMA: Enable service access for multi-access and multi-device environment, using IMS as the tool of convergence: Define convergent enablers and services to enable offering the same services on different devices (including home network) and access networks Define adaptations of enablers that may be required for fixed devices (DECT devices, tablets), TVs etc. This concerns both services and tools (Mobad, CAB, CPM, PAG, DM, APIs activities…) Ensure access to service functionality using multiple access (e.g. mobile, PC, fixed devices,…) Need some interactions with other SDOs, fora such as: HGI, DECT, OIPF (for the reuse of the OMA enablers providing additional services to TV; e.g. Mobad)
2. Leveraging interpersonal communication • Telepresence: • OMA has a role to play in standardisation of new Person-Person communication, such Telepresence, in the context of Home Environment Services.
3. Leveraging user preferences &device capabilities Leverage for P2P communications and Access to Content (A2C) based on user preferences & device capabilities: To Ensure best match between service communication or content service delivery and the user’s preferences/device capabilities, there is a need: to define device or network APIs enabling controlled access to information about user, device and device context The following APIs are required: APIs enabling access to user preferences information to contextualise/personalise service communication and content service delivery based on user profile and preferences (e.g. based on SUPM enabler) APIs enabling access to device information to contextualise/personalise service communication and content service delivery (e.g. based on DPE, Push or DCD enablers) http://www.fotosearch.com/photos-images/choice.html
4. Security & device management Evolve security (e.g. user authentication, application authorisation) and device management related aspects To promote enabler re-use of existing SIM based and network-based security mechanisms To enable converged device management across mobile and home environment (including e.g. Convergence of data models for Management Objects (MO) across mobile and home environment
