Cinder Cone Volcanoes • Cinder Cone Volcanoes are built when lava flows out cooling on the volcano enlarging it each time.
Composite Volcanoes • They are typically steep-sided, cones built from alternating layers of lava flows, volcanic ash, cinders, blocks, and bombs. They are the type of volcano people think of.
Shield Volcanoes • They are built almost entirely of lava that flows and cools on top of other layers. It creates a sloping cone like a warriors shield.
Lava Plateaus • A lava plateau is when lava from volcanoes slide down onto the earth off of the volcanoes making a piece of land covered by lava.
Batholiths • A batholiths is a large mountain that was created when a large glop of lava cooled on the side of a mountain.
Caldera • A caldera is usually confused with a crater. It happens when the top of a volcanoes explodes off and leaves a crater that can fill with rain water and create a lake.
Super Volcanoes • These are the most deadly volcanoes if all. They can create continental damage.
