  1. “To get whatever you want from life you have only to set in motion the appropriate cause, and the effect will take care of itself.”WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

  2. Goals What are goals?

  3. Goal: an aim or desired result • target • dream • intention desire plan hope ambition aspiration wish

  4. THE PROCESS OF MAKING YOUR WISHES COME TRUEStep 1: Make a Wish http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kS2_he8J0vc

  5. S.M.A.R.T Goal Setting S = Specific M = Measurable A = Attainable R = Realistic T = Timely

  6. Specific What are you going to do? Why is this important to do? How are you going to do it? Example: To keep my desk cleaned off each day.

  7. Measurable If you can’t measure it, you can’s manage it. Choose a goal with measurable progress, so you can see the change occur.

  8. AR goal for reading Short term or small goals built into the larger goal

  9. Attainable • Goals that are too far out of your reach won’t motivate you. A goal needs to stretch you slightly. • Stretched too much: Always have everything put away all the time.

  10. Example: Clean the desk off after each period.

  11. Realisticrealistic = “do-able” • Not a synonym for EASY • Should push your skills and knowledge but it shouldn’t break you.

  12. Be sure to set goals that you can attain with some effort! Set the bar high enough fora satisfying achievement! • Too difficult- sets the stage for failure • Too easy- sets the stage that says that you aren’t very capable

  13. Timely • Set a deadline for your goal. • Without a time limit, there’s no urgency to start taking action now. Deadline also must be attainable and realistic. • Ideas from ArinaNikitina, “S.MA.R.T Goal Setting.” YouTube video

  14. Make a Plan • HOW ??????????

  15. PLAN • Have a place for everything • Where are the places going to be? • Label everything • How do I want to label them? • Clean table off after each period • If there isn’t a home for something make a home for it right away

  16. Take Action • Put your new system in action • Label things • Set up time to clean off desk • Have someone help when needed

  17. Never Give Up If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again!
