  3. WE AREN’T NAME DROPPERS, BUT . . . • UNITED PARCEL SERVICE • AMERICAN NATIONAL INSURANCE COMPANY • HEB • WAL-MART • BIG LEAGUE DREAMS WE DO HAVE SOME PRETTY IMPRESSIVE NEIGHBORS!

UNITED PARCEL SERVICE: • 13,500 square foot distribution center • 55 full time jobs, growing to 63 jobs in 5 years • $19,430 in Capital Recovery Fees • Construction of facility currently underway • AMERICAN NATIONAL INSURANCE COMPANY: • 52,800 square feet of technical and office space • 125 full time employees, $8.6 million payroll • Construction of facility currently underway

BIG LEAGUE DREAMS: • $13 million visitor destination project • Groundbreaking February 24, 2004 • Park is scheduled to open in 2005 • WAL-MART: • 93,940 square foot supercenter • 7 pad sites • Located on I45 northbound at FM646 • HEB: • Anchor of Bay Colony Town Center • 94,000 square feet of retail space

  6. WE BUILT IT, THEY CAME . . . NOW WHAT DO WE DO WITH THEM?

The Butler Longhorn Museum. • The Parks and Recreation Department was awarded a $418,000 grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife to develop the outdoor interpretive station for the Butler Longhorn Museum and Heritage Park. • The Heritage Park site was redefined with the establishment of the Ghirardi Homestead on the museum site. • 1,137 identified businesses in League City • The Building Department completed 57,000 inspections. • 1,750 single-family residential building permits were issued.

League City police officers responded to 68,283 calls for service. • The Police Department completed two Citizens Police Academy classes, bringing the alumni to 52 members. • The League City Volunteer Fire Department held two, 80 hour, 10 week fire academies to train their volunteers • The Animal Control Department adopted out over 596 animals. • 652 Open Records Requests were filled. • The Fire Marshal’s office completed 2,300 calls for service. • The City implemented the use of credit card payment for all city services.

YOU WANT SOME MORE? • Vehicle Maintenance maintains a City fleet of 331 vehicles and equipment. • The Vehicle Maintenance department processed 1,721 requests for service. • The Water Department crossed Clear Creek to provide service to residents of Clear Creek Shores. • The Water Department added security to all water plant facilities to meet Homeland Security requirements. • Launched LCTV16.

WE’RE SMOKIN’! • The Street and Stormwater Department cleaned 47,934 linear feet of drainage, cleaned and inspected 11,454 storm drain inlets, applied 74,721 linear feet of crack sealing to city streets, and applied 250 tons of asphalt as well as expanded1,356 man-hours patching potholes. • Utility Billing completed 13,429 service orders, a 21% increase over last year. • The Helen Hall Library implemented a new Teen Advisory Board. • The Library received the 2nd Loan Star Libraries grant.

The Line Repair Department responded to and corrected 486 calls relating to backed up sewers. • The Line Repair Department cleaned and televised 21,622 linear feet of sanitary sewer lines. • The Wastewater Department completed the South Shore Force Main Improvements, the upgrade of 5 of the City’s major lift stations, and the Countryside WWWTP Rehabilitation Project.

AND WE’RE NOT EVEN TIRED! • WHAT’S IN STORE FOR THIS YEAR ? • Continue to construct the hike and bike trail along SH 96. • Hire 5 new police officers. • Complete the construction of Fire Station 5, and the rebuild of Fire Station 2. • Install fixed cameras and a permanent projection system in City Council chambers.

  13. The library will begin the process for a new library • The city will begin to administer the Comprehensive Plan • We will begin work on the expansion of oil and tire recycling to sub-locations. • League City Volunteer EMS will hire 4 full-time employees and 3 part-time employees

  14. AND AT THE END OF THE DAY . . . We take a deep breath and get ready to meet tomorrow!
