Eclipse Facts • An eclipse is a shadow, either on the Earth or on the moon • Umbra- area of a shadow that causes a total eclipse to occur • Penumbra- area of a shadow that causes a partial eclipse to occur

Eclipse Lab 1. Make two balls out of clay. • Earth 4cm in diameter • Moon 1 cm in diameter 2. Place the two balls about 15 cm apart. 3. Hold the flashlight about 15 cm away from the larger ball 4. Drawing 1: shine the light on the larger ball and sketch. 5. Drawing 2: Move the light to the opposite side and shine on smaller ball. 6. Answer questions.
