  1. Declaration of Independence Matthew Nakano “last 5 points”

  2. King George III is bad • “He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his protection and waging war against us.” Abdicate means to give up a high office or to fail to fulfill a duty or responsibility, so King George III has failed to fulfill his duty in the colonies, and has left the colonies out of his protection. • “He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.” The colonists are saying that the king has destroyed the hard work that they have done. • “He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to complete the works of death, desolation and tranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.” A mercenary is a professional soldier hired to serve in a foreign army that King George hired to complete the works of death, desolation and tranny. The colonists think that he is unworthy to be the Head of a civilized nation.

  3. “He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.” King George has taken fellow colonists and made them fight against their own. • “He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavored to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.” King George has joined forces with the Native Americans to make them fight against the colonists.
