The Harlem Renaissance started around the year 1919 and lasted until the early 1940’s and originated from New York also known as “The Negro Capital of the World” According to James W. Johnson. The Harlem Renaissance was a focus’ on the poets, Arthur's, and essayist of the black community. Fun Fact: the father of the Harlem Renaissance was Alain Locke.
