Classroom Times Mrs. Torres March 5-9, 2012 Reading… Information • Donations of wipes and paper towels will be appreciated. • Spelling Test: Friday (Study hard) • Weekly Math Quiz, Weekly Reading Assessment: Friday • The students will be working on Famous Women Reports in class. • Report Cards – March 15th • Please check conduct calendar’s weekly. Sign them and return them weekly. • March 26-30 – Spring Break • April 9-13 – ARMT Testing The students will be reading “Spirit of Endurance” as well as their leveled readers in reading this week. Students will practice identifying problem and solution, generating questions, and using base and root words to learn new vocabulary. *Remember to read for 20 minutes each night, summarize what you have read, and have reading log signed. AR goal is at least 50 points. Please practice reading aloud and retelling using the fluency passage each night. Vocabulary: frigid, treacherous, triumph, uninhabited, expedition, labor, dismantled, abandon Math… • The studentswill be reviewing necessary math skills (according to STI and math tests given in class to prepare for the ARMT. ) We will be working in small groups and at math stations to master these skills. • Quizzes will be given weekly on all 15 standards. • Notes, math videos, and examples are on the class website. http://smithsstation.lci.schoolinsites.com school staff Torres Presentations • V-Math activities are set! Notes and diagrams will be glued in science notebooks. PLEASE STUDY DAILY. Students will continue to study lenses, light, and energy. Theywill continue to review matter, energy, the scientific method, acids and bases, and chemical and physical changes through PowerPoints and review games. The students will review Symbiosis. Introduction to succession, and the Spheres of the Earth.
