  3. GOALS • Discuss what the role of the church is and isn’t in the life of the Christian • Help us know how to relate to other Christians who differ with us on issues

  4. GOALS • Renew our commitment to the authority, sufficiency and clarity of Scripture

  5. REASONS • Build and mature our church • Disciple the next generation • Prepare ourselves for future ministry • Address “change” in familiar Christian environments • Be Word-driven

  6. TRUTH UNDERSTANDING APPLICATION Biblical Christianity vs. Cultural, traditional, institutional, parental, box, guru, best-seller, movement, program, weak, false

  7. Each new generation must • Be presented with and become convinced of truth • Learn how to understand truth and reach their own beliefs and convictions. • Learn to exercise discernment,and make applications

  8. Current Issues • General Principles • How is it that we can relate truth to life for ourselves; what is it that we must develop and pass on? • Personally know the Word. • Interpret Scripture correctly.

  19. Current Issues Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way. Romans 14:13

  20. Current Issues Be known for inner qualities that show outwardly, not what you wear/don’t wear. Avoid revealing skin or shape in a way that males have to fight having wrong thoughts about you. Don’t judge one another; be considerate of one another.
