CRC 2010 hosted by Cincinnati Chapter Central Indiana Chapter 043 Report
Central Indiana Chapter 043 Highlights • Celebrated our 50th year anniversary as a chapter. • History section of newsletters. • Special celebration at February meeting with many past presidents in attendance and talk by former president Jim Wilson. • Met our goal of increasing attendance at meetings. Some meeting highlights were: • BIM roundtable discussion. • ASHRAE president Gordon Holness. • Tour of ASHRAE Institutional technology award winner Indianapolis Public School #87. • Tour of Hoosier Park Racing & Casino.
Central Indiana Chapter 043 Highlights • Four joint meetings – ISHE, SMACNA, USGBC and AIA. • Our student activities committee sponsored two student bar nights. One in Indianapolis and one in Lafayette. • Awarded a $1,500 scholarship to a Purdue student. • We began talks with the state government on how we can assist in rollout of new IN energy code adopting ASHRAE 90.1-2007.
Central Indiana Chapter 043 Challenges & Solutions • Bad weather forced us to postpone our February meeting (BIM roundtable) to 2 weeks later. • In the future we should schedule meetings in February that are easier to reschedule. • Unexpected turnover in 3 committee chairs from job transfers. • People need to be asked to fill positions. Don’t expect volunteers. • Make it easier for people to signup for meetings. • Began using our website as an option for registering and prepaying for meetings. This allowed credit card usage and we get the money even if they don’t attend.
Central Indiana Chapter 043 Challenges & Solutions • Challenged to increase revenue from other sources because of reduced golf outing attendance. • Restarted website sponsors with product directory and rotating display. Sent out personal invitations to solicit sponsorship. • With our last meeting of the year we started a meeting sponsorship program. • We challenged ourselves to improve our process of thanking our program speakers. • We began sending handwritten thank you notes written by the meeting coordinator.
Central Indiana Chapter 043 Challenges & Solutions • People don’t like to attend meetings at remote locations. • Do more than one meeting a month to cover more territory. In April we had two meetings, one in Indianapolis and one in Bloomington. The meeting in Bloomington was our 1st meeting on the Indiana University campus.
