Tests • We test after every Chapter • 3- 4 per quarter • Vary in format • Tests are 30% of the quarter grade • Test Days C and F
Quizzes • For World History I only • 4 or 5 per quarter (25 points each) • 6 questions • Questions will come directly from notes, video, or textbook • Total will be a major test grade • You must keep up with your work!!!
Wiki • Our class has a Wiki page • www.fjgintersocialstudies.wikispaces.com • We will use this throughout each quarter • Some of the assignments will be graded • Very easy to use
Writing • We write often • Both in class and formal assignments • Graded and placed in their folders • Writing is 25% of the quarter grade
Writing • All papers are to be completed in APA format (citing and bibliography) • www.bibme.org • All papers must be typed and stapled. It is very important that you follow directions. • 1 (100 pts) or 2 (50 points) papers will be completed each quarter. • Papers will be either turned in or submitted as a google document
Quarter Assessment/ Project • These are conducted every/ every other quarter • Usually groups of 2 • Usually a written component (part 1) and a presentation (part 2) • The Quarter Assessment is 25% of the quarter grade
Homework • Very minimal • There will be ten (10) homework points per quarter. No more than 10 assignments • The load is not very demanding • Homework is 10% of the quarter grade
Participation • Must take place • Important in the learning process • If you don’t I will call on you • Participation is 10% of the quarter grade
Semester Exam • January and June • They are cumulative • They are 20% of the Semester Grade • We may have some form of study session • Class will dictate this
Novel • You have read a novel over the summer • Test or a writing assignment will follow • Student Input
Extra Credit • Is not offered in this class at the end of the quarter • Opportunities will be present throughout the quarter • If you do what I ask I will take care of you • Strict but Fair
Responsibility • Homework assignments are to be turned in on the due date (in class), There are no exceptions • If you are absent, the assignment is due the next day you are in school • Homework assignments will be posted on grade connect (for absence) • I was absent is not an acceptable excuse

Availability • My job is not to get involved in your family/ personal life. If it is going to effect your schoolwork then you need to take care of it. • I will try to help if asked • I will make myself as available as possible for requests only time outside of school • Before school or after school
Cell Phones • Do yourself a favor and follow it • It will be strictly enforced in this classroom • It is important to respect rules
Class • This class can be as fun as you would like it to be as long as you stay on task when asked • Classroom of mutual respect (sleep) • Don’t bring your problems from other classes into this class • Be prepared for class • This includes school rules (dress code)
Know your Job • Take your “Job” seriously • “Do not wish to be anything but what you are, and try to be that perfectly” • You will be challenged in here • “It is nothing personal, it’s just business”
Current Events • This is an exercise that we will be doing throughout the year. • There is no set date or days we will do this • The purpose is to keep us involved with what is going on here and around the world • This exercise has two parts
Current Event (part 1) • Find an article on the topic that you are assigned • Print out the full article • Summarize the article in one paragraph, this must be typed • Staple them together and bring them to class
Current Events • Modern American History • Your State(s) • AP Government • Your States • World History I • World History (Outside US)
Current Events (part 2) • You bring your article and summary to class, ready for discussion • You must choose an article that will cause a discussion • At the end of class, you will turn the article in to be graded • Current Events are worth two (2) home-work points
Current EventsAPG and MAH • Articles are to be about any of the following topics: • Education • Government • Monetary issues • Upcoming elections • A specific problem that has arisen • Strike
