David and Goliath When David the youngest son of Jesse is sent to the battlefield to retrieve news of the war he hears a philistine named Goliath insult his God. Goliath is a 9 foot tall giant the philistines call their hero. David volunteered to fight Goliath. It took some persuasion, but King Saul finally agreed to let David fight against the giant. When he arrived at the battlefield Goliath insulted him and cursed at him and when he moved in for the kill, David reached into his bag and slung one of his stones at Goliath's head. Finding a hole in the armor, and killed Goliath. David then took Goliath's sword, killed him and then cut off his head.
Minotaur Before he ascended the throne of Crete, Minos struggled with his brothers for the right to rule. Minos prayed to Poseidon to send him a snow white bull as a sign of approval for his reign. He promised to sacrifice the bull as an offering, and as a symbol of subservience. But instead he sacrificed another animal in his heard. When Poseidon found out he made Minos’ wife fall in love with the bull and the offspring of their unnatural lovemaking created a monster called the Minotaur ( Bull of Minos)
