Physical Properties Metals, non-metals, metalloids
In class 9-11-12 • Obj. I am expected to compare metals, non-metals, and metalloids using their physical properties such as luster, conductivity, and malleability. • Vocabulary • Luster • Malleability • Conductivity • Magnetism • Ductile • Metals • Non-metals • Metalloids
@home • Study your vocabulary words daily
Luster • the way it reflects light or shines
malleability • The ability to be hammered in to a thin sheet or into most shapes.
conductivity • How well it allows heat and electricity to pass through it
ductile • Can be stretched or rolled into a wire
magnetism • Being attracted or not attracted to a magnet.
metals • A substance that is shiny, malleable, hard, and a good conductor of heat and electricity.
Non metals • A substance that is brittle, not malleable, may be a gas, and a poor conductor of heat and electricity.
Metalloid • An element that share properties of metals and non metals, they are semi-conductors.
