  2. What is the living wage? What workers need to survive & participate as active citizens in society

  3. A Movement of 200 communities A living wage is the income necessary to provide workers and their families with the basic necessities of life. A living wage will enable workers to live with dignity and to participate as active citizens in society. We call upon the Government, employers and society as a whole to strive for a living wage for all households as a necessary and important step in the reduction of poverty in New Zealand.

  4. What is Living Wage Aotearoa NZ? A social justice campaign initiated by SFWU to build power of civil society to win better wages for all workers by targeting funders and decision-makers

  5. Why is it relevant? • Between 500,000 and 750,000 people in NZ live in households below the poverty line • Up to 270,000 New Zealand children live in poverty • 2 in 5 poor children are from families where at least 1person is in full time work or self employed

  10. What is Catholic Social Teaching? How to understand the bible and tradition and seek to apply it to social conditions? For Catholics, our understanding is formed by the official teaching of our Popes and Bishops. Their social teaching sums up some 4,000 years of Jewish and Christian experience of and reflection upon social issues. It contains an authoritative and deep wisdom.
