What is an Autofill? • Simply a typing short-cut • Type .r and get right • Can be simple or complex • Can be limited to one doctor or practice wide • Some supplied but unlimited can be added • Work in progress notes, letter writer and some other text boxes • Differences from other software Bp Sunshine Summit 2014

Simple vs Complex • Simple • Default font • Suitable for one or 2 words up to short sentences, or at least no formatting • Type directly into autofill window • Complex • May be easier to set up in WP first, to allow formatting, tables etc which cannot be typed directly into autofill window Bp Sunshine Summit 2014

  21. Use of caret - ^ (above 6) • Used as a placeholder for variable data • Selected with Ctrl-F5 • mxexc • Skin lesion ^mm in average diameter excised from ^ under local anaesthetic. Wound sutured with ^. Sutures to be removed in ^ days. • Each press of Ctrl-F5 selects and highlights next caret and allows appropriate data to be typed in Bp Sunshine Summit 2014

Autofill tips & tricks • Make sure shortcut is not something you would normally type – precede a single letter or real word with character such as . or , (li) • Think about whether any autofill should be yours alone or available to all, egla • Remember use of caret ^ and Ctrl-F5 • No ability to print autofill list • Avoid large chunks of text with no customisation • Practice meeting: • share ideas and autofills • Policy on creating/saving/naming Bp Sunshine Summit 2014

Investigations and inbox • Very powerful part of Bp • View and allocate (Computer monitor icon or View → Incoming reports) • Check “Show unallocated only” • Important regular task • Should only be done by senior person (PM, PN, senior GP) • Manually allocate patient and/or doctor • “Missing” results usually in here • Check Inbox (Inbox icon) • 2 setup styles (Preferences) Bp Sunshine Summit 2014

Clinical photography • Useful for skin lesions, rashes, things for later review • I use Canon Powershot A480 – few years old (10 megapixel) • Camera attachment for dermatoscopes • Eye-Fi Wi-fi cards now easy to get and make process easier • Photo on network within 15 seconds • Import photo via BDI to reduce size • Live demo Bp Sunshine Summit 2014
