Williams School Technology Fundraising Drive November PTO Meeting November 12, 2009Williams School Auburndale, MA
Why are we here? • Our school & classrooms are poorly equipped • There are insufficient funds in the Newton School’s budget to close the gap • Our children should have modern classrooms now • We believe we can close the gap! November 12, 2009
We are Behind the Curve • Technology in the district ranks only in the 22nd and the school in the 43rd percentile • Approximately 1 modern laptop for every 10 students at beginning of the year • 6 LCD projectors and 1 ELMO for 13 classrooms at beginning of year Note: MCAS reported laptop ratio is 4.5 students/laptop; these include end of life units that can not run all requisite software November 12, 2009
Our Goal is to Close the Gap • Student/computer ratio of 2:1 • An LCD and ELMO projector for each classroom • Smart Boards November 12, 2009
Not Cheap – But We Can Do It! • Goal of $136,000 - $500 per student • We’ve already made real progress • Resulting in: • LCDs in each class • About 10 new laptops Please help however you can! Look for more info in the coming months November 12, 2009
