Curriculum coverage • English - Writing • Biography, non-chronological reports, instructions, diary entry, newspaper, reports and posters • English - Reading • The Kane Chronicles: The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan • Maths • read, write, order and compare numbers to at least 1 000 000 and determine the value of each digit • count forwards or backwards in steps of powers of 10 for any given number up to 1 000 000 • add and subtract whole numbers with more than 4 digits, including using formal written methods (columnar addition and subtraction) • identify multiples and factors and common factors of two numbers • know and use the vocabulary of prime numbers • multiply numbers up to 4 digits by a one- or two-digit number using a formal written method • compare and order fractions whose denominators are all multiples of the same number • identify, name and write equivalent fractions of a given fraction, represented visually, including tenths and hundredths • convert between different units of metric measure (for example, kilometre and metre; centimetre and metre; centimetre and millimetre) • identify 3-D shapes, including cubes and other cuboids, from 2-D representations • solve comparison problems using information presented in a line graph

Specialist lessons • Spanish – Thursday • PE – Thursday and Friday • P.E. kits are to be worn on Thursday. Full school uniform is to be worn on Friday with the P.E. kit brought in a bag. This is part of the Secondary School preparation program that will be implemented throughout the year across Years 5 and 6.
Homework All home learning is sent home on a Monday. All home learning is due the following Monday. Students will mark their homework with a teacher on a Monday so as to maximise learning opportunities from mistakes made whilst completing the homework.
