Company Background • The store originated in 1978, but started going publically in 2005. • The store targets buyers in the “skaters, snowboarders, and surfers” offering gear ranging from boards to clothes. • Targets consumers from ages 12 to 24. • Located mostly in shopping malls. • As of 2010, they operate over 400 stores in over 35 states.

Porters 5 Forces • Threat of New Entrants- a lot of stores already • Supplier Power- Hundreds of suppliers • Buyer Power- We know want the customers want and need • Competitive Rivalry- Their becoming the new up and coming company • Threat of Substitution- Prices may be lower somewhere else
External Threats • Pacific Sunwear- Also another surf based company targeting teens • Hot Topic- A clothing based store targeting “punk” teens • The Sports Authority- A sports equipment based store • Easy entrance of competition.
