Now I’ve done my Primary Research! What do I do with the results?
Are you developing a comparison between 2 groups? • Sort your surveys • Count the number of surveys in each pile • This will comprise the denominator for working out percentages • Use an unused survey form to tally each question • This tally sheet will handed in with your filled in surveys
Example • You divided your 30 surveys into male and female • Among the males, 10 answered “yes” and 5 answered “no” • Therefore 66% answered yes and 33% answered no
Multiple Choice • Works the same way • a=5 b=6 c=3 d=11 Your percentages would be ?
Now take your data from the questionnaires and start to tally and analyze
Digital Technology is Changing Society Make sure you insert your graph into the text 40% of males between the ages of 30 and 35 agree that digital technology is changing society. 60% of males aged 15 –29 agree with this statement.
Other tips… • Do not include any discussion points in this section • Your graphs must be in percentages not number of students • Include word titles not…question 5 • Label the axis • Do not make full page graphs • Text must go right underneath the graph • Include at least 2 types of graphs
Discussion Section In your Discussion section, you will link your primary research findings to your secondary research findings * remembering to use in-text citations * identify similarities & differences and possible reasons why * fundamental flaws or limitations of your primary research and improvments
Conclusion Section In your concluding section, you will repeat your thesis statement & purpose of your research as well as, clearly outline the expected outcome of your study * reinforce the sociological impact of your study * reiterate the importance of your topic of study to social change * further recommendations for future research
