The Connections Award Mr. Romin Jarrah, Mr. Iyad Al-Attar, Mr. Paul Capulong and Mr. Girish Chhatwani on the occasion of presentation of the Connections Award, April 11, 2006 The Connections Programat the University of Toronto, Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, links students in the senior year of study with Ontario-based industries. The students undertake theses that are posed by the industries. Funding for the Connections Program is provided by the Ontario Centres of Excellence, Centre for Materials and Manufacturing. Mr. Iyad Al-Attar (Mech 9T7) participated in the Connections Program during his undergraduate studies. In 2005, he generously established the Connections Award, which is given annually to a team of students participating in the Connections Program, and who give the best final thesis presentation. Paul Capulong , Girish Chhatwani andRomin Jarrah, all Mech 0T6, are the first recipients of the Connections Award. They participated in the Connections Program in collaboration with Autoliv Electronics Canada Inc. Their final thesis presentation, made on April 11, 2006, was entitled “Measuring Solder Wave Height in a Selective Soldering Process Using Optical (Laser) Sensors”.
