  2. Maya Aztec Who Created Ancient Latin American Architecture?

  3. The Mayas are well known for pyramids, which vary in shape depending on where they were built. The Maya occupied the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico.Thecivilization was formed as early as 1500 BC. • The Mayan religion centered around the worship of many nature gods. Their amazing architecture remain as great ruins like centers they used for religious ceremonies, including Palenque, Uxmal,  Copán, Tikal and ChichénItzá.  • They developed astronomy, calendar systems and writing. The Maya also built observatories to watch stars.  They were highly skilled as potters and weavers. • About 300 to 900 AD  the major centers including Palenque, Tikal, and Copán were mysteriously abandoned. The reasons for the Mayas disapearanceare still unknown. A few centers continued until the Spanish arrived in the 16th century. Maya

  7. The Aztecs were the Native Americans who had political and military control over the northern part of Mexico in the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries. They were a nomadic culture that finally established themselves on several small islands in Lake Texcoco. In 1325 they started an ancient city, that is now where Mexico City is.   9. Pyramid of Santa Cecilia This is an Aztec pyramid with a temple at the top. The temple at the to of the pyramid of Santa Cecilia is one of the best preserved temples found today.
