What exactly is MBA? • Master of Business Administration • At some point of time you need more than just the technical know-how • The skills and the competencies • The strategic decisions that will change the world of future • CSR • Broad categories • Marketing, Strategy, Finance, HR, Operations, Systems Learning to Fly ~ Madhurjya Banerjee

  5. What do I need to do an MBA? • Step 1. • Decide where lies your calling • Step 2. • Decide where you want to do your MBA • Step 3. • Select the schools you would want to do it in • In Pilani • Maximize your returns from your efforts Learning to Fly ~ Madhurjya Banerjee

  6. How do I know if I have it in me? • Well. Only you can say that. • As far as I see it, I haven’t met any BITSian who doesn’t have it him/her • The best time to decide • After the first CDC set (term 5 or term7), the winter break • How important is CGPA? • Definitely important. But not the end of the world. • How important is extra-currics? • That’s what differentiates you Learning to Fly ~ Madhurjya Banerjee

When should I start preparing? • Do your CDCs well • You never know when you’ll fall in love with them • Its never to late to start working on the Queen’s Language • Read the papers and magazines regularly • The Economic Times might be complete gibberish at first read; but highly effective • The final 6 months should be solely for CAT Learning to Fly ~ Madhurjya Banerjee

  8. When should I start preparing? II • Build up your resume • Undertake some Social Service Initiatives • Develop a hobby and take it to the next level • The setting up of Poetry Club by 1st yearites in 2003-04 • Not everyone can be a 10P. But you can get another degree, a new language competency • Read about the lives of Welch, Iacocca, Scully • 1. The World is Flat2. The Mckinsey way3. The Goal4. The Dreaded CAT • No one can ever predict a CAT paper pattern • 3 broad Sections • Quant • DI/LR • English • This is not Rocket Science • Class 10 Mathematics • Speed and Accuracy • The importance of Mock CATs • Coaching centre?   10. …and the Interviews… • Never try to be what you are not • Be honest about yourself and your achievements • Trust me; it never pays to bluff • Develop some hobbies/ activities • Makes it easier to find things to talk about • The major criteria (no one knows for sure) • CAT Score • CGPA • Extra-currics • Work Ex. – How important is work ex? • Communication Learning to Fly ~ Madhurjya Banerjee
