  4. Am I eligible for funding? Every Applicant • Must be ‘ordinarily resident’ in the UK for 3 years prior to the course. • Must not have any restrictions on staying in the UK. • EU students without 3 years residence in the UK are usually eligible for fee support only. • EU students with 3 years residence in the UK may be eligible for full funding.

  5. Tuition Fees For all NHS funded students Tuition fees are paid by the NHS regardless of household income The fees are paid direct to the University

  6. Funding for living costs NHS Means-tested Bursary • Maximum Basic Bursary£2,810 p.a. Plus £82 per extra week of study – usually 22 extra weeks Paid in instalments – each term PLUS Non income assessed Student Loan • Student loan£2,324 p.a.

  7. Funding for living costs *includes extra weeks attendance (22 weeks x £82)

  8. The Student Loan • Non-commercial • Interest linked to inflation but accrues while studying • Eligibility unaffected by credit rating • Paid in 3 instalments (Sep, Jan, April) Repayments: (After graduation)

  9. Help with Placement Costs Placement costs Allowance This is part of the NHS Bursary Scheme Help is income assessed • Qualify for any amount of NHS Bursary and this qualifies you for help with placement costs • Refunds of costs processed by the Dental School

  15. How to apply for funding NHS Bursary – • Apply via the NHS Wales Student Awards Unit. Can apply prior to notification of a NHS Funded place. Student Loan – • Apply via your ‘Student Finance Service’ up to 12 months prior to starting at University
