  4. Staff can access the Accelerate IT Orientation by going to our.sinclair, clicking on Angel Courses, and looking under their Courses. https://our.sinclair.edu/ Accelerate IT Orientation—A Look inside

  5. To Add a student to Accelerate IT Orientation 1. From the Accelerate IT Orientation Home Page, Click ‘Manage’ Orientation—Adding Students

  6. 2. From the ‘Manage’ tab, click ‘Roster’ Orientation—Adding Students

  7. 3. Once inside the Roster Editor, click ‘Add a User’ Orientation—Adding students

  8. 4. In ‘Add a User’, type in the student’s email or user name and click ‘search’ You CANNOT add a student with their Tartan ID! Orientation—Adding Students

  9. 5. Verify you have located the correct student, and click ‘select’ Orientation—adding students

  10. 6. Check the box for ‘notify user of account changes by email’ and click ‘save’ Orientation—adding students

  11. Example email: Directions for completing Orientation: To access Accelerate IT Orientation, please log on to your my.sinclair account, and click on Angel Courses. Once inside, you should be able to find Accelerate IT Orientation under the Courses section. After entering the Orientation, lease click on the Lessons tab to get started. Accelerate IT Orientation will ask you to complete several things in addition to reading over the information provided. To fulfill the Orientation completion requirement, please make sure you have finished all of the following tasks. 1. How to Succeed in an Online Course 2. SmarterMeasureAssessment 3. Vision Statement 4. Quiz 5. Survey Important note: When you are finished with Accelerate IT Orientation, please notify your advisor! Orientation—Directions for Students

  12. To be considered “finished” a student must have completed in Orientation: 1. How to Succeed in an Online Course 2. SmarterMeasure Readiness Assessment 3. Vision Statement 4. Quiz 5. Survey Orientation—Verifying Completion

  13. Checking Orientation Scores 1. Verify there is a grade for Vision Statement (1pt), Quiz (7pts), and Survey (1 pt) Orientation—Verifying Completion enter check check

Verify How to Succeed in an Online Course completion Successful completion of How to Succeed in an Online Course will appear in Datatel on the student’s XSCL screen under ‘courses taken’ the day AFTER they complete the course. When searching for completion of How to Succeed, make sure you search ‘AL’ and not ‘UG’ *If you need immediate confirmation of a student’s completion of How to Succeed in an Online Course, you may ask them to send you their confirmation of completion that is sent to their my.sinclair email.   16. 3. Verify SmarterMeasure completion SmarterMeasure results are generated in an external site Jessica will monitor SmarterMeasure results and forward to appropriate advisor Orientation—Verifying Completion

Successful course completion = grade of 80% or higher • Chapter Quizzes have unlimited attempts • Labs, Midterms, and Final examinations offer 3 attempts only • Course work must be completed in chronological order • Students must attend 3 class meetings **If students are unable to achieve an 80%, they will be permitted to finish out their course as if it were a traditional online course, but will not be eligible for future Accelerate IT courses.** For more information visit http://www.sinclair.edu/online/accelerate/policies/index.cfm Program Policies and Requirements

Regional Center sections appear bi-weekly through week 12 • Register student for section with upcoming nearest start date • Sections restricted to Learning Center/Courseview Advisor signatures • **Sections without start dates are FULL-TERM courses that start on the first day of the term Registering Students

  19. Working with SSP—Adding/Finding New Students 1. Look and see if the student is on your caseload 2. If they do NOT appear in your caseload, click on the ‘search’ button to determine if they are already in SSP Student Support

  20. Working with SSP—Adding/Finding New Students 3. If the student is not currently in SSP, they will need to be added using the ‘Add Student’ button Student Support

  21. Working with SSP—Adding New Students 4. To add a new student, enter (at minimum ) their Tartan ID,as well as their ‘Coach’ and ‘Student Type’ and click ‘save’. Student Support

  22. Working with SSP—Assigning students to your caseload 5. If the student is able to be located using the search function, simply assign them to your caseload using the ‘Edit Student’ button. Student Support

  23. Working with SSP—Assigning Service Group to Accelerate IT Emporium students 6. For all students, from the ‘Edit Student’ function, under the ‘Service Groups’ tab, add TAACCCT to student’s ‘Service Groups” and click ‘save’. Student Support

  24. Student Support Working with SSP Student should now appear on your caseload with the appropriate service group, and you may begin working with the Tools

  25. Advisors will receive weekly progress/performance reports for Accelerate IT students on their caseload • Advisors use these reports to guide student support and necessary interventions. Risk levels will determine types and frequency of interactions. • All interactions with students logged in SSP STUDENT SUPPORT

Some recommended guidelines for managing Accelerate IT students: • Attend first class meeting • Biweekly phone call, email or visit with student • SSP Journaling is a necessary evil • You may/should begin journaling at the point of registration. You may begin journaling earlier. For instance, I begin journaling at the first point of contact. Student support
