  2. Stereotypes • Raisin in the Sun • Black Men couldn’t get good jobs • Most women were housewives. • Black children would end up like their parents. History • Laws kept African Americans segregated from whites • Whites did not like being around blacks • Thought they were filthy, uneducated, lazy and uncivilized

Segregated Housing Issues • A Raisin in the Sun • -Linder, “move elsewhere” • -Willing to pay for them to move • Why? • -Creates change • -Disrupts way of living • -Face racism • History -No renting part of a building if belongs to opposites race -Would be fined $25-$100 -Might be sent to jail 10-60 days
